Starting from the quiet northern side of Mount Kilimanjaro, this itinerary provides stunning views, fewer crowds, and a peaceful trekking experience. It is ideal for climbers who prefer a less busy route with improved safety and success.
Day 1: Rongai Gate (1,950m) → Simba Camp (2,600m)

The trek begins with a gradual ascent through forest and farmland. The trail is quiet and scenic, offering a relaxed introduction to the climb.

Day 2: Simba Camp (2,600m) → Second Cave Camp (3,450m)
Distance: 9 km
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Habitat: Moorland
Climb steadily through open moorland with expansive views. The dry climate makes trekking conditions more comfortable.

Day 3: Second Cave Camp (3,450m) → Kikelewa Camp (3,600m)

This important acclimatization day includes a short hike to higher altitude before returning to camp.
This helps the body adjust and prepares climbers for the summit attempt.

Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn Camp → Kibo Hut (4,700m)

Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Habitat: Alpine desert
Cross the saddle toward Kibo Hut. The terrain is dry and exposed.
Upon arrival, rest and prepare for summit night.
Overnight: Kibo Hut
Day 7: Kibo Hut → Uhuru Peak (5,895m) → Marangu Gate (1,870m)

Midnight summit attempt to Uhuru Peak. After reaching the summit, descend via Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate.
